GVSU’s acclaimed New Music Ensemble was featured on National Public Radio’s Weekend Edition Sunday February 3 for its notable performance and recording of contemporary composer Steven Reich’s daunting work, Music for 18 Musicians.
You can listen to the NPR broadcast and read the story, Steve Reich: ‘Music for 18 (cornfed) Musicians’ by clicking here. You can also access videos of the performers from that site. The NPR story wasn’t the first time the group received national attention, though. Last fall The New York Times ran a story about the group’s accomplishment, which you can access by clicking here. Want to hear the work? Borrow the library’s copy of the CD, which can be found here.
Congratulations to these accomplished GVSU students and faculty!
