Grand Valley State University recently celebrated its fourteenth annual Shakespeare Festival, which included a student competition for creative, critical, historical or scholarly projects relating to Shakespeare, his times, and the Renaissance (1450-1650 AD). This year, for the first time, the festival committee set up a separate category for work done by graduate students. “From Mourning to Morning: Love and Grief in John Donne’s ‘A Nocturnal upon Saint Lucy’s Day, Being the Shortest Day,’” written by Library Acquisitions Associate Ann Hayward, was awarded first prize.
