KCRC Moves into New Homes

August 24th, 2006

Over the summer, there were major changes to the KCRC (the Kindergarten through Twelve Grade Curriculum Resource Center) that was located in AuSable Hall on the Allendale Campus. Now the GVSU Libraries has two centers located on two campus serving all students and faculty. The two centers are now called the Curriculum Materials Library – DeVos (located in Room 201A DeVos on the Pew Campus) and the Curriculum Materials Library – Zumberge, (located in Room 205 Zumberge Library on the Allendale Campus).

The collection consists of items pre-service and in-service teachers might use in their classrooms. Textbook sets, videos/DVDs, hands-on materials and puppets are just a few items found in this unique collection. There are also machines (i.e.: laminating or binding machines) teachers might use found in the CMLs.

CML hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 AM to 9 PM; Friday 10 AM to 4:30 PM; Saturday 1 PM to 5 PM; Sunday closed. The CML-DeVos telephone number is 331.7084. The CML-Zumberge telephone number is 331.2086.

For more information, please contact Dawn Burnaby (331.2086) or Rita Kohrman (331.2622).

New Locations for Computers in Zumberge

August 23rd, 2006

The reference and computer area of the Zumberge Library in Allendale went through a major renovation this summer. As part of that renovation, most of the computers in the library were spread out among the library’s four floors. Users can now find computers in the northwest corner (overlooking the clock tower) of the second, third and fourth floors of the library, along with a dozen computers that will be in place adjacent to the new reference desk once renovations are completed on the first floor. As always, users can also check out laptops from the circulation desk.

In addition to the visible changes in the reference and circulation areas of the Zumberge Library, other changes that have taken place include moving the Government Documents collection to the 4th floor, expanding the juvenile and young adult collections along the west and north walls of the 2nd floor and the move of the Curriculum Materials Library (the former KCRC) to the 2nd floor of the library.
