Grand Valley State University Libraries added two premier databases to its growing collection of electronic resources this week. These databases will replace ProQuest Research Library Core and ABI Inform Global subscriptions, which expire August 31, 2006.

Academic Search Premier provides 4,459 Full Text journals. It includes a total of 8,030 abstracted and indexed journals. Academic Search Premier is the “world’s largest scholarly, multidisciplinary full text database designed for academic institutions,” according Library Journal.

Business Source Complete contains more peer-reviewed business related journals than any other database currently available. Indexing and abstracting for journals go back to 1886 or to the first issue of the journal. Business Source Complete includes financial data, books, conference proceedings, case studies, industry reports and market research reports.

The University Libraries have also added the following Ebsco databases:
GLBT Life with Full Text, Mental Measurements, Sport Discus, CINAHL Plus with Full Text.

University Libraries Launch New Interlibrary Loan System

April 4th, 2006

This week the University Libraries launched a new system for making interlibrary loan requests for items located at other libraries and for making document delivery requests for copies of items available at GVSU. The first time you log into the system you will be asked to register, but after that you will be able to log in with your network login and password. Faculty and staff should note that they should use the same login that they use to access BlackBoard, which excludes their department extension (use smithj – not smithj.library).

To access the new system, click on the Borrow from other Libraries link, which is located under Help and Instruction in the bottom left corner of the Libraries’ homepage. The University Libraries are very excited about this new system and we welcome your feedback. Please drop us a note at docdel@gvsu.edu and let us know your thoughts.
